Shuffleboard Tournament Guide

Shuffleboards As A Promo Method For Your Venue

Shuffleboard Tournament Explained

Hosting a Shuffleboard Tournament is an excellent way of promoting your venue, all while providing some fun and friendly competition! A Shuffleboard Event can boost your venue’s traffic, social media engagement and bookings, so what are you waiting for? Here’s how to host a Shuffleboard Tournament:

The Shuffleboard Tournament Plan

  • Choose your date and time wisely
    • Opt for weekends to attract larger crowds or weekdays to ensure your venue is bustling on typically quieter days.
  • Choose a Tournament Format
    • Consider the duration of your tournament and the number of players involved.
      • Single Elimination: Players or teams are eliminated after one loss. Winners advance until a champion is crowned. This is the easiest and shortest tournament, but immediate losers only get to play once.
      • Double Elimination: Players or teams are eliminated after two losses, allowing for a potential comeback through a losers' bracket. Good for a medium-length game where players get to play more often.
      • Round-Robin: Each player or team plays against all others. The one with the best overall record wins. Easy and fun for all, but is the longest in duration.
      • Ladder Tournament: Players or teams challenge others ranked above them to move up the ladder. Rankings are updated based on match results. Players get to improve while playing and enjoy the fairly long duration of the game.

Share the rules and prizes

Set clear rules and share them with the players beforehand in an email or on the page of the event. You can find the rules on how to play shuffleboard here. You can also come up with a prize for the winner, which can attract more players.

  • Promotion and sign-up
    • Create a sign-up/booking form on your website and promote your shuffleboard tournament.
  • At the day of the event
    • Brief your staff.
    • Print out the rules.
    • Prepare your shuffleboard tables by applying a thin layer of silicon spray and adding new shuffleboard speed wax (sand).
    • Pick a fun host to present the event and explain the rules.
    • Ready, set, shuffle!
    • Choose a winner!
