The Challenge
At MatrixIC, we always strive to create an innovative and dynamic work environment for our tenants. A relaxed and casual atmosphere is key to this. In some of our buildings, we already had pool tables, and we were looking for a similar playful element for two of our other buildings. Shuffleboard, which is currently very popular, seemed like an excellent choice. We wanted to create a fun atmosphere, but also encourage interaction and relaxation among our tenants.
Positive Atmosphere
Since adding two shuffleboards to our buildings, their popularity has been clearly visible. They are being used extensively, especially around lunchtime and Friday afternoons. The shuffleboard is also a favorite game during happy hours. The fact that we now have two boards says enough about its popularity within our Innovation Center.
We’ve also noticed that during organized happy hours, interaction between different tenants has increased. A good example of this was a spring event where various games, including shuffleboard, were introduced. This created a fun and interactive atmosphere that was well-received by attendees.
The shuffleboard is often used as a way to relax, particularly around lunchtime or after meetings. Tenants play a quick game to unwind, which contributes to their well-being and indirectly boosts their productivity.
The Result
We’ve prominently placed the shuffleboard in our Innovation Center. It’s a playful element that highlights our unique and dynamic work environment, which has definitely contributed to the attraction of new tenants.
The shuffleboard also helps foster a positive and welcoming work environment. The feedback from our tenants has been overwhelmingly positive. They find the shuffleboard to be a fun addition to our buildings. International tenants and visitors, who are often unfamiliar with the game, have responded enthusiastically and curiously.
In Building ONE, the shuffleboard is located near the meeting rooms, where it can also serve as a table thanks to removable boards. This multifunctional use makes it a practical addition. In Building SIX, the shuffleboard is placed in the reception area near the pantry, truly making it a social gathering spot.
The addition of the shuffleboard has certainly contributed to tenant satisfaction and the overall dynamic within our Innovation Center. While it’s difficult to directly quantify membership growth in measurable terms, we have noticed a positive impact on the overall atmosphere and the satisfaction of our tenants.
